The flaming star in the Auriga

This is the flaming star in the Auriga constellation. AE Aurigae is a runaway star. It was formed in the Orion nebula 2'700'000 years ago. The star is embedded in a red emission nebula and illuminates a blue emission nebula showing a wonderful color combination. It is best observable in the winter time from the north hemisphere.
